University of the Arts London is the largest specialist provider in Europe of higher education and research in art, design, performance and communication and offers research degree programmes in all six of its world renowned Colleges.
Each College offers both theoretical and practice based research programmes leading to a PhD or MPhil awarded in any subject area where the University can provide appropriately qualified supervision. The University also offers a research degree programme by Published Work which can be completed for both PhD and MPhil awards.
Research Degree Students at the University of the Arts London benefit from full access to cross College resources, interdisciplinary dialogue, and to the Research Network University of the Arts London (RNUAL) which offers research students support and ongoing training to enhance their studies and future careers as researchers.
Programmes of research can be carried out in any field of study within the expertise of the University of the Arts London, provided that the proposed programme is capable of leading to scholarly research and to its presentation for assessment by appropriate examiners. The University’s subject range also means that students can follow programmes of study in which creative work can form a significant part of the intellectual enquiry.
